You might try the flash-shoe mounteded spirit levels. That way the bubble
is on your camera. No glueing or anything is necessary.

It would end up quite expensive Godfrey. I'm going to try to do it with
what I have. The one thing that definitely has to be done is the bubble
on the tripod has to be replaced, it died in the cold a few years ago. I
have to get an original or it won't fit. Or at least find a bubble with
a perfectly flat underside, parallel with the top, so I can cement it
onto the dead one. It may not be easy to get the old one out.
