I had the same problem with my accounting software and thought I'd just
have to live with it.  Recently the software distributors adressed the
issue in their e-newsletter.  The following extract is the fix that
worked for me, perhaps it will work for you, too.

    "Note: If your system is already set to English (Australian), but
    your date is showing incorrectly in your MYOB accounting program,
    select a different country in Regional Settings.  Press OK and
    restart your computer. Then, go back into Regional Settings,
    change your country settings back to English (Australian) and
    restart your computer."
