One of those areas where I would rather use whatever labour saving device is
available to me is hammering nails.
There is skill involved in using an air nailer, BTW. They can do a lot of 
damage to the material very quickly.
Consider that a framing nailer can drive a 3 1/2 inch nail into 50 year old 
fir 2x6 in one very fast stroke, probably around 1/10th second, and consider 
what that can do to material that is much less robust.
