Actually, I take a bit of a perverse pleasure in our (US) unwillingness
(inability?) to switch to the metric system.  It just sort of speaks to
that "screw you, I'm doing it my way" attitude of the pioneers. :-)

The math is a lot easier in metric, though. Does anyone know how many
slugs are equal to a kilogram? :-)
