High end camera equipment is black these days. The MZ-S is meant to
compete with those cameras. That alone is sufficient reason for them to
make theirs black. There's also the added practical benefit of black not
acting like as much of a mirror at the wrong time :-)

Never seen burnished or "matte" finish shine.... not like polished does.
Guess all those hunters buying Stainless Steel rifles are just fools with
wads of cash.
If they went with powder coating or Nitriding, they could get ANY color
(including black).... plus their precious "texture"; durablity heads above
any paint ever made; & longevity of same finish... and it wouldn't take 3
separate steps to accomplish it.
Mebbe they could really go high tech & substitute carbon fiber for
plastic... then they could be "space age" & that "high end" P30 wouldn't
seem so "cheap" with it's plastic film door. (P30 is black. Guess that
makes it high end, eh?)
I hear what yer saying Patrick.... I just don't agree.
If Penatx's competition strategy has sunken to the level of "THEIR camera
is black, so must ours be" then, they have severely missed the boat.
Mebbe ALL film cameras HAVE to be black... so as to not be confused with
the plethora of silver digital cams. <g>
I dunno..... my '96 Impala SS only came in 3 colors.... & ONE interior
option. At $28k MSRP versus a $1,000 camera, I think color don't mean jack.
(Esp considering my '73 Charger R/T came in sublime green....
affectionately dubbed "Baby-shit Green"). What's it DO was the selling
point..... as it should be with cameras that have all the "Bells &
Whistles".
screw em.... I ain't buying a MZ-S or a PZ-1. FWIW, I think my Program Plus
is actually the better deal.
But then, I ain't a "PRO". <g>
