 I'm not surprised as the digital camera (or it software) will have a colour 
management system that applies right from the CCD.  With film you're stuck 
with the raw image as the film recorded it; the colour management process 
starts at the scanner, not the film.

 I am sure you could create colour profiles for each slide film emulsion so that, 
within the dynamic range limitations of the films, you would get exactly the 
same (perfectly natural) results upon scanning no matter what film you used 
(how boring!).
