Reports suggest that Pentax will next address the lack of high-quality telephoto lenses.
There are reports originating with Pentax UK suggesting that the "high-performance telezoom" that was once on the roadmap will actually appear next year. Discussion (and last year's roadmap) pegged it at about 60-240 mm. No maximum aperture revealed. As Mark noted, there may also be telephoto primes. A high Pentax official last winter said something vague about "the further evolution of the k-mount." This has been widely interpreted to mean in-lens autofocus motors. There has been speculation that this might be introduced with the K10D (the D+) and the forthcoming 16-50 F2.8 and 50-135 F2.8. The first two paragraphs above look pretty good. The third paragraph involves (in my opinion) a lot of reading between the lines. There are no reports about faster wide angle primes.
