We have pretty bad streets. The soil type we have here is very unstable, and we have extreme freeze/thaw cycles. Little Japanese cars don't stand a chance around here. The other problem with them is that the extreme cold wreaks havoc on axle boots and the like, since they are prone to splitting in the cold. OTOH, we don't have a lot of failures due to rust out, as we have a pretty dry climate, and are nowhere close to salt air. We don't salt the streets either. I would imagine a Honda would last just about forever in a mild, dry climate, as would most any car. The vehicles that last longest around here are full size trucks.
