Actually if you simply look at the tonnage of waste produced by the 
average individual Mexican, who lives well below what we would consider 
middle class by US or European standards, and the Average Non Mexican 
North American just to be politically correct, (US or Canada, take your 
pick, but easily within the "Middle Class mark), you would find an 
amazing parity.  The difference is in what the waste is comprised of.  A 
very large part of the waste per capita in Mexico is spoiled food.  In 
the US/Canada there much less spoiled food, but much more packaging, 
much of if for keeping food from spoiling.
