I also find it very sharp with occasionally troubling bokeh on the DS, but my experience is also that it does indeed have a tendency to produce color fringing more often than the other lenses I use.
Back when I first got it early last year, I posted an example here: http://www.alpert.com/marco/temp/ As was correctly pointed out at the time, this is definitely a worst- case example, but my experience with the lens in the ensuing year and a half has confirmed that it often produces fringing in less-than- worst-cases as well.
