Most ethanol is synthesized from petroleum these days, except for the stuff we drink. So is a large amounts of the hydrocarbon chemicals used in industry. Much of our clothing is made from petroleum. And of course most of the plastics we use. Fuel is actually far from the biggest use. Of course you never hear about this from the environmentalists. I often wonder if it is ignorance or that it does not fit into the tenets of the faith.
