Here's another question for those on the list who are more
PC-knowledgeable than I am. Apologies to everyone else.

My two-month-old Dell laptop has acquired the odd quirk of showing the
message "End Program...System Shell Extension...End Now" when I shut it
down. I have to click "end now" or wait a few seconds for whatever is
hanging to shut down. It doesn't do it every time, but nearly so. I
cannot relate this to any program I run or don't run.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to find and swat this thing?

This started after I went through what is known among Dell customers as
"decrapifying" the machine, and installing a bunch of my own software.
But I cannot just go back to some past operating system state. I have
put in too many hours installing software and getting everything just so.

Thanks,

Joe
