OOC, have you checked the terminals on the connector to the ignition module itself? A bit of corrosion there could be wreaking havoc. I'd completely rule everything out before the module itself, since it's the most expensive part :-/ As another random though, check that the regulator/rectifier is still working properly. The failure mode from them is to produce voltage spikes that can fry the ignition module.
