No, not quite.
An image, without burned out higlights (255 white) or shadows without no is
not necassaryly totally mid-grey. It's just - well - without burned out
higlights or blocked shadows. This technology is actually precently beeing
researched/discussed. So I was told recently, by a pro photographer/studio
owner/photo dealer.
I'ts not impossible - just difficult to achieve. In theory still possible.
Sometime in the future. It would be what I regard as a well exposed image.
