I'd have a tough time abandoning my laptop in favor of another storage device. If I need more "in the field" storage, I would simply invest in more cards. With 5.5 gig worth of CF cards and my laptop, I've never had a problem. I expect with the SD cards, I'll have at least 9 gigs to start. Cards and laptop seem to be the way to go in my opinion.
