Whether I could lean on something solid, use some other method to steady the camera, I developed a habit to put the eye cup lightly touch (or pushed against) my forehead which makes a great deal of difference. Of course there are provisos such as your glass (if you wear) won't interfere or the rubber eye cup is relatively large and hard etc. Your body moves but the hand-induced shake (higher frequency than the body motion) would be pretty much dampened.
