Similar cameras with similar capacity batteries are running 700-1200
exposures per charge these days, no reason the K10D will be any
different. (For someone coming from film cameras, that's 20-35 rolls
of 36 exposure film per charge... :-)

The body will come with one battery and a charger. The AC adapter is
for tethered, mains-powered use in a studio or similar and is thus
optional. Batteries like this normally take 1-3 hours to charge from
fully exhausted to full capacity.

I'll order at least one spare battery when I order mine, and then
I'll wait to see if I actually need a third. For a month long travel
expedition, presuming I have access to mains power most evenings at
least, I'd want two spares.

If you're going into the boonies and will not have regular access to
mains power, invest in an inexpensive DC->AC power inverter with
about 20% more amperage capacity than the charger needs so you can
charge batteries from a 12V automobile power source, and maybe add
another spare battery or two.

(For the *ist DS, with CRV3 Lithium disposables, a set will run about
1200-1300 exposures. Five sets, not a case, would make 6000 exposures
or the equivalent of 130 rolls of film or so. That would do me for
far longer than a month's worth of shooting.)
