Oh, one more thing, Bill ... This is the second Sony I owned - for the first I had two bats, and they lasted about three or four years with no problems. When I sold the camera the bats were still going strong.
I've had the DSC-S85 since some time in early 2003. I used two bats, and they are still going strong - by that I mean they hold a charge well. For your trip I'd suggest three, maybe four, bats, although four may be overkill. OTOH, you're going to be gone a while and you'll have a lot of time and $$ invested in the trip, so an extra bat may be a good idea.
