I've been looking at this one more time.

They way it is written strongly indicate that it's not a typo. It goes
something like this: We know that the final version of the camera will make
16 bit raw files.

So it looks like either misinformation, a marketing hype (deliberate
misinformation, or conflicting information. 

My point is; the sentence strongly suggests that they have a source for this
information.

Swedish mag is claiming that K10D RAW files will be 16-bit color.
Apparently they're claiming that all extant Pentax promotional
literature says 12-bit because the decision to change the firmware for
16-bit was made *very* recently (Sept 11). 

I'm skeptical, but we'll find out before too long I suppose.
