The blocks are there, no doubt. To me it looks like it is more details in
the original.

Besides this it is a well captured pleasing image. I like the colour mix,
nature is good at that ;-) I see you have used 300 x 1,4, that's
interesting, using this for a landscape. Well seen.

I don't see the "blocks" in the sky you mention, but the peak is softer
than it app eats in a larger file. I'd bet that the mountain is
something like 30 or 40 miles away, but shot through what was probably
pretty clear vapor free air.
I appreciate your comments and will take another look at the the scan.
