Indeed. Several DSLR's have used a hybrid shutter (Nikon D1H, EOS 1D, 
Nikon D70 and D50), only the D50 didn't have any issues, and that's 
because it kept the max shutter speed down to 1/4000. The other bodies 
occasionally experienced artifacts at higher shutter speeds.

Note that almost all P&S bodies which use electronic shutters have a max 
shutter speed well under 1/4000.
