it's not great wide open but stopped down 2-3 stops it works pretty  
darn well. When I tested it against the FA80-320 and A70-210, I was  
quite surprised to see that when stopped down a bit, it performed on  
par with the other two.

Of course, that makes it a pretty slow lens, but lenses in this focal  
length range I tend to use on a tripod anyway, and not terribly  
frequently.
