Sounds possible. The competition for the 645D is the Canon 1Ds-II,
which is around $8000. If you'd asked me six months ago if I thought
Pentax could bring the 645D in under $10,000 I'd have said no way.
After the appearance of the K10D at under $1000 I'd say it may
actually be possible. Especially if, as rumored, the 645D shared a lot
of its electronics and firmware with the K10D.

I still don't think I'd bite, though. The cropped image sensor means
my current 645 wide angles would become normals (or semi-normals). I'd
have to buy new lenses and if I'm looking at buying a new body *and*
new lenses to go with it, the Canon 1Ds-II makes more sense. Even
though the MF camera should have better noise characteristics, the
range of lenses available would make the decision for me.
