Yes, Shel. Photography is truely a great hobby. It makes you interested in everything visual/graphic, which will very often lead to fine human contacts, great nature experiences - from landscape, to diving, flying, hiking, flora, fauna etc. I can't think of any other hobby or activity that does this. Pentax or anything else. It's a good thing that Pentax isn't the por's first choise. Pentax users will be regarded as amateurs = photographers who photograph because they love it - not (entirely) because they have to. Regards

We schmoozed, swapped lenses, and I got to try his new DA50-200 and Zenitar 16/2.8. After he headed home, I lingered a bit, and as I was leaving an older gentleman approached me and asked if I was using a digital camera. One thing led to another, and we grabbed a table outside the small restaurant where I'd had lunch just a short while before. Ben had a lot of questions about DSLR's, and we talked mostly about Leica and Pentax (Ben's a Leica user from the M3 days, and has an M3 and an M4). By the time we parted, Ben was quite impressed with the current capabilities of the Pentax DSLR cameras, and is quite interested in the K10D. He now has John Celio's info @ Reed's Camera in Walnut Creek, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he contacts John and orders the camera. Some years ago, after not having done photography for a number of years, I picked up my cameras again, in part with the idea that it would allow me to meet new people and make new friends. It certainly has ... from this list alone I have personally met numerous people from all over the US, some of whom I consider good friends, and others are certainly great acquaintances, and that doesn't include those friendships that are only on line relationships. And, of course, there have been quite a few people I've met just by carrying a camera around while out shooting, like Ben. That's "The Pentax Way."
