Mat - I use the white filters because they are a tad
cheaper...
but I also eliminate the chlorine from the water by filling
gallon 
jugs from the tap and letting them sit a few hours before
using the water.

I'm too much of a klutz to use the French press... 

I'm so glad Trader Joe's came to my 'hood in NY because I
can get 
wonderful New Mexico Pinion coffee in the bean.  THE TJ's
Colombian is nice, too.
