folks,
My heart must have sunk about 10 feet when I started hearing people
saying that third party lenses might not be allowed in the PUG gallery. By
all means disallow Canon, Nikon, Minolta and other bodies, after all this is
the Pentax Users Group, but many people have little choice except to buy
third party lenses because the Pentax lenses are so expensive. I have a
mixture of both, but I've never considered myself to be anything other than
a true blue Pentaxian! Pentax users in the real world of limited funds want
to see what results a Tokina lens can produce just as much as what the
equivalent Pentax lens can do.
Heck, some of the so-called "Pentax" lens are just rebranded lenses from
other manufacturers, anyway. Are they going to banned, too? Where does it
end? Please don't sap the joy out of the gallery by silly hair-splitting in
some attempt to achieve some meaningless and unachievable "purity" (what, do
we also need to use Pentax film?)

I'm in favor of a purely Pentax gallery. There are many places where
one can use other brands of cameras and lenses. Many people have
their own web sites and home pages, and there are many opportunities
to post photos in other public galleries. IMO, the idea of the Pentax
gallery is to showcase what Pentax users can do with their Pentax
equipment. If I want to post a picture I've made with a Leica, I'll
swing over to one of the leica galleries. However, my position does
not, of course, preclude one from showing their work here, via links
to web sites and home pages, made with other equipment.
