I started renaming images at about image 3000 or so changing the IMGP to the location of where the picture was taken or the subject of the image.
I use Breeze systems Downloader Pro which renames easily while downloading. There are a lot of other programs out there that do the same. The only time I will have problems is if I happen to go to the same place and the counter is at the same range it was last time. I started doing this because I bought a second istD and didn't want to get into trouble with it all.
