Nate says that this is how wide-angle lenses behave on film bodies anyway, and he enjoys it because it is more of a film-like experience. He says that when he went from the 20D (8mp) to the 5D (12mp), he now had only 50% more pixels, but the frame was twice the size, so the performance of most of his lenses improved. I have been impressed with the output from the 5D, and I hope the other manufacturers follow suit eventually, but it's not enough to make me switch to Canon.
