Yep, that's a clock. I disassembled a few of those in my early years. I was good at taking apart door locks as well. The old skeleton key variety. Simple and interesting. Fascinating in fact, when one is six years old. My uncle had a small engine repair shop in the town of Seaforth, Ontario. We visited them when I was perhaps 7 or so years old. One day, for some reason, I was sent to his shop to be babysat. Anyway, he gave me a dead lawnmower engine to play with. I proceeded to take it apart, which was fun, until I found and removed the oil plug. Then it was REALLY fun....
