I'm wondering if the 300/4 is similar to my SMC Tak 400/5.6, where the
6x7 version of the lens was exactly the same optically, but had a
different lens mount and tripod mount assembly. IIRC, you can remove
the lens element/aperture assembly from the back half of the mount,
and put the mount from a 6x7 lens onto it.

If you can get a 67 adapter for less than the cost of a K-mount or
screw mount 300/4, you're ahead of the game. Granted there are
probably better 300mm lenses out there, but they're also more
expensive.
