Hi, PEter -- I did it - hours ago - and sent reply to list,
you and David

It works in Firefox - It doesn't in Netscape 4.6

I had done all that stuff years ago except I didn't know the
location box was a kind of message box
 I guess.

WHen I first got the computer I went through all the display
boxes changing colors and
all the sounds changing some "waves" to an owl sound and
turning off lots of them...
removing tons of "helpful" things from MS word - etc.... and
changing colors to eliminate
all white backgrounds.

I always go to the control panel for stuff like that -
never occured to me to
consider properties of the desktop.

THe other thing I cant do - well - don't WANT to do, that
people find weird is that I always
work with only one window open at a time at full screen...

Though I used split screens in Kedit in the old days when I
had to to copy pieces of a program from one file to
another.

I've finally got into dragging and dropping files from a
directory into the Nero burning window.

I'm chiling out tonight watching movies on tv - just
finished watching OUR MAN IN HAVANA
on TCM - One of my favorite Guiness films. But I've only
seen it about ten times and not
in the last few years.
