With the Nikon Coolscan 8000 I had access to at my old job, I would have 
probably scanned a 6x17 neg in two 6x9 sections and then stitched them in 
Photoshop.  I've seen a couple large prints from that big Fuji, and just 
thinking about being able to do that myself makes me almost start drooling.

Almost.  The whole idea is really expensive.
