If by "stroboframe style" you mean a bracket that allows the flash to flip
between positions, I'd like to try to explain why they're better than
flash-on-a-stick brackets.

First off, I have a FlashFrame FlashFlip VF bracket
(http://www.omegasatter.com/v2/products/displayproduct.cfm?ProdID=3302),
which I love and is very similar to a Stroboframe. Any bracket can be made
to support a dedicated flash, as long as you get the proper off-camera flash
cables.

The advantage to having a bracket like the one I have is the ability to keep
the flash directly above your lens, whether or not the camera is positioned
horizontally or vertically. This reduces the appearance of shadows and
makes bounce flash a hell of a lot easier.

Grip brackets like the Pentax model you mention are a little bit smaller,
but they're very limited. If you turn your camera 90 degrees to the left to
shoot a vertical frame, your flash is below your camera and will cast very
odd shadows. You also won't be able to bounce the flash off the ceiling. I
had the opportunity to get that Pentax flash grip last year, but after
playing with it for a couple days I decided it just wasn't good enough.
It's no different from shooting with the flash on the camera's hot shoe.
IMHO, if you're going to get a bracket, you're better off getting one that
won't limit you.
