I said John's pic was boring and trite (exact words I'm sure can be found in the archive). I also noted that there was a technical skill involved. John agreed that the photo was mundane and even wondered why he posted it. If you're gonna criticize my comments, _read_ exactly what I said. And, later in the thread I noted that were I making a moon shot for the first few times, I'd probably do the same thing John did.
A decent criticism should not only point out flaws or praise, but offer alternatives, which I also did. What's the point of bullshitting people and beating around the bush. No one will grow or learn without honest and meaningful commentary about their work. Comments like you and others frequently post - "It doesn't do anything for me." are essentially as worthless as "I like it" as far as a criticism goes. WHY do you like it, or WHY doesn't a photo do something for you. I just don't agree with you.
