I always insure for the what ever the final value indicates - but I put an insurance fee upfront that is based on what I expect to get for the item. Given that it is to someone in the USA. I generally make it soemthing at the high end of what I hope for. But then, I seldom sell anything that goes for more than $100.
I do always quote a shipping and handling fee, too - again, only applicable in the USA. ann ====== The other day I insured an ebay sale myself although the buyer hadn't asked for it. After reading these threads, I think I will have a new policy -- anything near a $100 and over, insurance will be REQUIRED (paid by buyer). Too much can go wrong, and although I haven't had much go wrong up until now, it would take just one big sale going wrong to make it worth it.
