>I've decided to stomp my 28-200 Pentax lens to dust.

>The lenses I considered were: the highly regarded A70-210 f4, the
A35-105
f3.5 (which I already knew was an excellent lens), a A28-135 f4,
which is
also highly regarded, the A35-135 f3.5-4.5 (which I've never seen a
review
for but which appears to be quite compact) and the A35-210 f3.5-4.5.

As it happens, I came across a A35-210 which I recently obtained from
a
fellow PDML member. I have just had this lens professionally cleaned
and
have not yet had a chance to properly test it but it certainly has
much
better build quality than the 28-200, less edge distortion and is
faster at
the long end. The lack of AF is not a problem as it is a 'one touch'
zoom
and thus easy to compose and focus with. It is a little heavy though
compared to the 28-200 but is only slightly longer and is narrower.

I would consider any of the above lenses if you want a wide range
zoom on a
budget and don't like the cheap plastic lenses available today. I
wouldn't
'stomp the 28-200 into dust' though - someone will buy it from you ;-)

Nenad
