I think you may have missed a few appealing features on the new 
products.
Autofocus and program/ shutter preferred AE come to mind, along with MTF

transfer; there's probably more reasons.
The legacy products pale by comparison, especially the ones that don't 
suppot things like Hyper program, auto focus, etc....
