A few weeks ago I had a chance to knock off about 25 frames with a DA50-200. Better than a lot of earlier zooms that I've used, but not quite up to the standards of a good -> great prime. Still, I think this would make a great lens to carry along with a somewhat shorter zoom for a two-lens kit if one wanted to travel light when travelling or walking about town.
Assuming that the DA* lenses will be even better, I'd probably have little or no qualms about taking a DA*16-50 and a DA* 50-135 as my only lenses on many outings, or perhaps leaving the high-end primes in the hotel safe until their wider apertures or greater resolution or sharpness were needed.
