Except the competition is below $1000USD. The D80 is $999 body only, the 
A100 is $899 and the XTi/400D is $799. They priced against the most 
comparable body major-feature-wise (The A100, which also has SR, 
anti-dust and 3fps until you fill the card in JPEG) and below the only 
body which offers features the K10D doesn't (D80, with its wireless 
flash control)

Which does render your argument irrelevant.
