My first camera was a Brownie Hawkwye. I was 8 or 9. Probably the summer of 1969. I thought it was cool!
At the time my Dad bought me mostly B&W film. Of course I didn't realize I started out in photography shooting medium format B&W! I didn't, but my Dad did, get some pretty decent pictures with the same model camera. In particular, I remember him setting the camera on the roof of our Renault 10 and taking a long exposure shot of Mt. Shasta in California at sunset. It turned out pretty good.
