I have a Metz 45CT-4, with an SCA3701M2 (older SCA adapter), and an
SCA3000C cable. For the most part the combination works on my DS2. I
have leading and trailing curtain flash, and high-speed sync seems to
work (the camera fires, at least. I haven't tested it at a high
shutter speed). When I try to use the Spot Beam mode, the camera acts
as if the flash is turned off, though. I wonder if that's fixed in the
SCA3702 adapter? I've used normal TTL flash through the adapter with
decent results at ISO 200 at least.

I bought the adapter used from a listmember, and I got the cable from
KEH, for significantly less than the new price, in both cases.

I think a more correct term is "not fully compatible."
None of the Metz adapters will do P-TTL mode with the DS, and see my
above issue with the "spot beam" mode. Also, from the research I've
done, it seems that normal TTL flash exposure only works on ISO 200,
or possibly ISO 200 and 400. I need to do some more testing with that.

If I were buying a brand-new flash right now, I'd look at the Sigma EF
500 DG super. Or one of the Pentax flashes. Though if the 3702 adapter
fixes the spot-beam function, that might be a viable option. Anyone
know if the Spot Beam function works with a 3702 adapter on a DS/DS2
body?
