In general, I'd not buy additional RAM from Apple, but try for a configuration that leaves some memory slots empty. Then buy third-party memory modules at lower cost. The idea is to avoid removing RAM you paid for, to make room for larger modules. Tougher with hard drive space, as putting in a larger drive later surely means removing the original one in the package you paid for. Might as well go for it at the start. Larger hard drives and more RAM are like needing a larger closet or more shelves in the work room...
