A bit of an overstatement. Most of the DSLRs on full idiot mode will still outperform the average point-and-shoot. You might not get the best possible image quality the DSLR could deliver, but most of the time only under circumstances where the point-and-shoot will perform miserably. Mind you, I do see the point.
