I SAY FALSE, use a 40-105 zoom with a constant aperture so you can QUICKLY go from 40 to 105 and tell me you have no difference. YOU WONT BE ABLE TO DO THAT because there is a big difference. Using two lenses one at a time with time differences between the comparison is not the way to prove it. Its too easy to make a memory error. Also, are you sure your 40mm and 105 mmm are of the same optical quality at the fstops tested? If not, the test is invalid if you were trying to prove that wider is same a longer in terms of focussing ease. You are now falling into nitwit category if you honestly believe wide angle lenses are just as easy (exact same difficulty) to focus as telephotos at the same f-stop ( all else being equal).
Have you ever owned or used a zoom that WASN'T easier to focus accurately at the long end??? I haven't. And that pretty much proves my point completely. jco -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of William Robb Sent: Saturday, November 11, 2006 10:39 AM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: Using a Super Tak w/ istDS- A challange to the list? ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. I just tried your little test using a 40mm lens and a 105mm lens. On the istD, both lenses were equally easy (and more importantly, equally accurate) to focus when stopped down to f/8 when focussing on the same object about 16 feet from where I am sitting. Yer wrong on this one, John.
