About a year ago I was invited to Los Angeles to provide voice commentary for an environmental film. I got a reduced version of the Hollywood treatment. The production company sent a car and driver to meet me at the airport, etc. The company was called "Ecolimo," featuring "Ecological chauffered transportation throughout the greater Los Angeles area." My driver was also the owner, and the car was a Prius. Yes, I can imagine they are fun. There is so much readout activity on the console that the thought that popped into my mind was that the car was like a self-mobile computer game. But the owner complained that the car does not trigger the heat-sensitive sensors at intersections, so she gets frustrated waiting for the light to change. I suggested she get out and exhale on the sensor. The next day I had a different driver, who picked me up in a conventional big limo. So much for "ecological chauffered transportation." After I did my work, the car and driver were mine for several hours. A fun experience. I have the owner's business card, and use it sometimes in talks.
