Check your outgoing SMTP server settings. For most residential ISP's, you must make sure the mail gets routed through their mail servers, otherwise it can, and will, get silently dropped along the way. Also, double-check the source address that thunderbird is using for you. If it is not the same as the address you subscribed to the list, you'll have problems. I was reading PDML w/ thunderbird before I got my gmail account.
