I've never built anything other than AMD based machines, though I've 
used and upgraded Intel machines. The AMD systems seem to offer more 
bang for the buck.  It's possible that Intel based machines are more 
stable in operation, but the OS seems to have more to do with stability 
than the hardware.  I've never done any actual benchmark testing to be sure.
