The F100-300/4.5-5.6 that I have does not change length while zooming.
The FA80-320 that I tested did.

The F100-300 is pretty crappy when used wide open, but two-three  
stops down it renders very nice photographs. Due to that, and the  
focal length, it's a tripod-only lens in my opinion unless you have  
very bright light to work with.
