Airport security is a joke. I have frequently boarded flights with my
large, lead-lined film bag in my briefcase -- unchecked. Sometimes they
look at it. Frequently they open my bag but don't bother to look inside
the lead-lined bag. Airport security is an entry level job: little pay.
little education. That, of course, will change now. At least for the
time being.
By the way, I was on the runway at Detroit Metro when the attack
began. My flight was headed for Mexico City, and had just started to
move down the runway when the pilot suddenly eased off the throttle,
stopped the plane, and headed back to the gate. I'm glad it didn't leave
the ground. I kept thinking how General Motors would have been a worthy
target for these lunatics.
It's good to be home tonight.
