I wrote about this here. My aim was to enable my Flash Trax (harddrive/card reader - CF slot only) ) to read SD my cards. For this purpose I believe the adapter is just fine. My photo dealer got hold of a couple og these adapters. Some of them smal enough to fit inside the camera.
For the camera (*ist D) I prefere to go on using CF cards, although some adapteres are in fact small enough to fit inside the D as well. BTW: Some SD cards even come with a built-in USB interface!
